KELLY MILLER CIRCUS OPENS

John Ringling North II opened his 2008 edition at Hugo, Oklahoma on March 15th. The old circus adage all new but the name held true for this addition. All of the performance plus working folks were all new. Mr. John Ringling North II has that touch from his dad and his uncle on production of the performance. His touches are very evident as Kelly Miller has three spectacular numbers. The opening where all the performers parade around the ring while they play the music the Greatest Show on Earth and it sure got my attention. Mr. John said I put it in for you Harry and I said you made my day with it. And this set the pace for the rest of the great new circus.
The opening performance as seen in Hugo was :
- All performers parade around the ring waving at the locals.
- Juggling performed by Brent Michels a new young addition to KM.
- Eskimo escapades dogs presented by Nat-lie Canin.
- Perch poles by the Rosalies family and a class act.
- Peanut pitch.
- Rolla Bolla presented by a young Fridman Torales.
- Comedy horse act presented by Armando Loyal and family that always brings down the house.
- Clown number by Pat.
- Coloring book pitch.
- Rosalis hula hoop act.
- The Black Ninjas from Kenya East Africa tumblers.
- Single trap act production number by Sara Green and the North starlets.The music Granada is played and many turns are taken. Mr. John said they worked on this to 11pm one night.
- Intermission and the Black Ninjas do several turns while the cage act is being put up.
- Casey McCoy presents 3 tigers in a part American and part European cat act. He had 4 cats to start with and one just died.
- The hang upside down from loops at the top of the tent presented by Fridman Torales.
- Kelly Miller performing elephants presented by Armamdo Loyal who did a super job in presenting them to the Hugo locals.
- Clown number.
- Wheel of death by the Rosalis family.
- Black Asians limbo number.
- The Oklahoma tribute by all Kelly Miller performers with the music from Oklahoma with an oil derrick spraying black paper in the center ring and the performers with western costumers and one pulling a covered wagon. This is another Mr. John original and the Hugo folks loved it.
New also this year is the pvc pipe reserved seat section around center ring with the Kelly Miller logo on the curtain around the reserved seat section. New paint jobs was seen on many trucks by the worlds greatest show painter Bob Rawls. Jim Royal is the shows manager and while Mr. John is in Ireland Jim will guide this successful show down the circus trail.
John Moss III is the shows announcer and does a great job. New also on the lot was the rebirth of the Jomar car, as John Ringling North II has it on his new motor home. Mr. John was sporting a new Kelly Miller Ringling Red circus cap and I said where can I buy one and he said take mine and what a circus keep sake I now have from the man himself. I am on cloud nine.
Talking to Mrs. North who was running the pony ride she told me the story that she wanted a horse and she told her husband. Nothing was said for a week and then Mr.John told her that I bought a circus and was she surprised. On opening day the Norths had a complete reserved seat section and so did the Rawls family. It was so nice to visit with Mary Rawls that enjoyed the circus as well as Carol and Lorraine Jession.
As you can tell I had a great visit seeing this opening of Kelly Miller and to visit with John Ringling North II again. Each year the circus just keeps on getting better under his guidance. Mr. John makes you feel at home on his circus. Be sure and go see Kelly Miller the world's finest one ring circus when it plays your home town.
